i'm not sure but this story leaves a bit of bad taste in my mouth. not having been there it's not possible to make judgments but there are questions that come to my mind that aren't answered in the piece.

i can't help but wonder: if these women were not known by the congregation then how did they become aware of their homosexuality?

i am a gay trans-woman, a member in good standing of a traditional church and a strong advocate of gay rights. these are rights i stand up for in the church...but not during worship service. during worship i hope and i'm sure i'm in tune with the rest of the congregation on this...it is not the time for making any statements. we are there to worship our God in the manner we have chosen to do so. we are lithurical in our approach to worship, it is structured in a certain way that reflects our chosen way of interacting with God at that time. any distraction or disruption would not be taken lightly. worship is a special time and for many of us, myself included, it's the focal point of our week, and of our lives. i would hope that anyone who chooses to come and worship with us would respect that.

any disruption...especially one so powerful as asking someone to leave the service would be something taken on only as a last resort.

again, not being there i can't make judgments but i have to wonder at this. and i would ask everyone to consider the power and personal affect worship has on believers of different faiths. statements about how the worship is conducted, morality, political or ethical questions should not happen during that particular time. as we are struggling for acceptance and equality we have to be careful about being counterproductive in that effort by being so offensive to sensibilities that we close the very minds we are trying to open.

much love and hope. pj

If lesbians sit in the front row, these conservative idiots think they are fair game.
It seems that just being is offensive to straight people, but at least now these women will never vote for that idiot pastor.
The silver lining.
