As readers of this blog know, I've been on the road for MyOutSpirit for nearly 18 months now. I sold almost all my possessions (everything I own fits in my car now) and hit the road for gay spirituality. I've moved 12 times already (yes, it's getting old), and published the test issue of MyOutSpirit Magazine in Austin earlier this year. I was very thankful that Bishop Gene Robinson gave a "MyOutSpirit Address" at our big launch party in the Texas State Capitol Rotunda.
Now, I'm in San Diego, working hard to create the national MyOutSpirit Magazine we will distribute for free to inspire LGBTQ people to "Live your best gay life."
An angel investor to help us get started would be really nice (feel free to contact me if you're interested), but even after the angels come, we'll still be dependent on advertisers who support our mission to shift gay culture and save LGBTQ lives.
That's why I need YOU to take this (sort of fun) anonymous survey.
Everyone's answers will be consolidated to create a "Reader Profile" to include in the media kit shown to potential advertisers. This helps them understand why advertising in MyOutSpirit Magazine will be effective as well as important.

ABOUT MYOUTSPIRIT MAGAZINE
We know that many LGBTQ people are actively engaged in a SPIRITUAL JOURNEY. We know that many churches and other body/mind/spirit resources welcome and affirm LGBTQ people. We also know that, despite the extraordinary progress of our movement for equal rights, respect and recognition, many LGBTQ people still struggle with feelings of shame, unworthiness and other symptoms of internalized homophobia and spiritual violence.
We created MyOutSpirit.com and MyOutSpirit Magazine to provide inspiration and guidance that helps LGBTQ people “live their best gay lives.” We believe that by creating an integral movement of happy, whole, self-actualized LGBTQ people, we can save lives and shift gay culture toward spirituality, deep community and healthy living. You know the old saying, “Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day. TEACH THEM TO FISH AND YOU FEED THEM FOR A LIFETIME.” Rather than promising LGBTQ people that “It gets better” someday, MyOutSpirit gives them tools to “Make it better” starting today.
Each beautifully designed issue of our quarterly publication is devoted to covering a wide assortment of life-changing ideas and practices from diverse traditions that help LGBTQ people improve their lives in the areas of Body, Mind, Spirit and Community. Our INNOVATIVE CONTENT as well as our EDGY PHOTOGRAPHY AND GRAPHIC DESIGN make MyOutSpirit Magazine attractive and relevant to the lives of both millennials and elders.
These previously-invisible spiritual LGBTQ people have a HUNGER FOR DEEP DISCUSSION, PERSONAL IMPROVEMENT AND CELEBRATION of their spiritual journey. Curious, sincere and questioning, MyOutSpirit readers are not interested in the stale, stereotypical notions of gay culture that are being recycled and handed down to them; they would rather forge their own. They want to HEAL THE WORLD as they heal themselves.
Also, just because I hear this question so much:
BUT ISN’T PRINT DEAD?
Hardly! Magazine readership has increased 11% since Google launched. Magazines gained more than one million young adult readers since Facebook was founded. Magazines rank #1 at influencing consumers to start a search online – higher than newer media options. Magazine ad recall has increased 13%, and action-taking based on ads recalled increased by 10%, since 2005.* As ubiquitous as the internet has become, print magazines are still a POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE way to reach the public. Besides, there's still something special about discovering a new publication relevant to you, holding it in your hands, curling up to read it, and passing it on to your friends.
