The healing energy now known as Reiki has been around for centuries. It was named and identified as a methodology within the last century in Japan and was brought to the Western world about 60 years ago. Receiving attunements (called "Initiations") in the First Degree training for Reiki opens one up to receive this healing energy both for oneself and to become a conduit of the energy for others. As this energy moves through the body, it assists the body's natural propensity to heal. Once you have been initiated into Reiki, healing energy will flow through your hands for the rest of your life.
