I met Scott Dillard at the Gay Spirit Culture Summit in April/May 2004 and was deeply touched by his story. I am honored to say that Scott has become the tenth endorser of Bridge of Light. Here's his e-mail:
I wholeheartedly endorse your vision for this holiday. As an advisor to the Gay Straight Alliance at Georgia College and State University I am eager to help my students connect to their uniqueness as glbt people and to their past and future.
This sort of celebration is just the thing that young people need to help them feel a part of an emerging tradition.
Scott dillard is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric at Georgia College and State University. His areas of expertise and interest are performance studies, narrative, queer theory, gay spirituality, and service-learning. His education includes a Ph.D. and M.S. in Speech Communication (Performance Studies) from Southern Illinois University; B.A. in Speech Communication from Blackburn College. His recent scholarly/professional publications and/or presentations include "Breathe With Me," a one-person show performed at GC&SU and Lake Superior State University, and a new performance on September 10 at Easton Mountain for the HIV Storytelling Weekend.
Scott has recently started the second year of seminary at The New Seminary in NYC and will be ordained as an interfaith minister in June of 2005.
