Queer Shabbaton New York
October 31-November 2, 2008
New York, NY
Join Nehirim for an urban retreat of culture, creativity, and community for GLBT
Jews, partners, and allies. This is a Shabbaton like you’ve never experienced before, featuring:
• Pluralistic, alternative community of queer Jews of all ages, religious
stripes, and political affiliations
• Workshops and presentations on gender and Judaism, sexuality, politics,
spirituality, and more
• Programs and pricing that ensure that everyone is included, with full
scholarships for students
• A wide range of spiritual options, from yoga and meditation to
traditional davening and text study
• Lots of good food and free time to enjoy Halloween weekend in NYC!
Last year, 140 queer Jews (plus partners and allies) joined Nehirim for the
first Queer Shabbaton New York, and they had to turn many people away.
Don’t be left out!

[Nehirim is a national, nondenominational organization which
creates innovative programming, builds community, and offers
authentic, life-affirming spiritual paths for Jewish members of
sexual or gender minorities. At their weekend retreats and other programs, they create transformative spiritual and cultural community, and celebrate
the unique gifts of being Jewish and queer.
The core idea of Nehirim is
that being queer and Jewish is a gift, not a predicament. They have
unique perspectives on God, community, love, Torah, and Israel -- and they have a remarkable, hidden history of generations of scholars,
mystics, and poets. Nehirim is about celebrating our gifts, building
our community, and inspiring queer Jews of all ages, backgrounds, and
levels of observance to claim their heritage. Visit them online at www.Nehirim.org]
